Modificação da fermentação ruminal in vitro para mitigação de metano pela adição de óleos essenciais de plantas e compostos terpenóides

Os óleos essenciais das plantas são compostos aromáticos voláteis, principalmente terpenóides, fenilpropanóides; monoterpenos, sesquiterpenos e álcoois, estes apresentam uma ampla gama de atividade antimicrobiana e antioxidante, portanto, a adição de óleos essenciais de cravo, eucalipto, menta, alecrim, orégano e canela podem modificar a fermentação ruminal reduzindo a população de bactérias produtoras de metano e assim redução na produção desse gás. O objetivo foi avaliar diferentes óleos essenciais e compostos terpenóides para melhorar a fermentação ruminal e a produção de ácidos graxos voláteis, atenuando a geração de metano. A composição química (terpenóides) dos óleos, assim como os ácidos graxos voláteis (AGVs), foram determinados por cromatografia gasosa. Para a digestibilidade in vitro, foi utilizada a técnica de produção de gases in vitro e o líquido ruminal. O metano foi inferido da concentração de AGVs. Verificou-se que todos os óleos essenciais apresentaram cada um dos terpenóides em diferentes concentrações, relatando a maior concentração de carvacrol no óleo essencial de cravo (303 mg mL-1) e no orégano (1,20 mg mL-1); o terpineno apresentou-se em maior quantidade no óleo essencial de hortelã-pimenta (4,83 mg mL-1); para o óleo de hortelã-pimenta e alecrim, o linalol foi maior e para o limoneno a maior concentração foi no óleo de eucalipto (449 mg mL-1) e alecrim (12,42 mg mL-1). Para a produção de gases nas digestibilidades, o óleo essencial de eucalipto na dose de 0,3 apresentou 176 mL g-1 MS. Para a digestibilidade in vitro, o óleo de alecrim em altas doses (0,6 mL) apresentou a melhor fermentação ruminal, pois teve melhor mitigação de metano (716,83 mM/L) sem afetar negativamente a concentração de AGVs (acetato, 1892,2; propiônico, 526,14; butírico, 24,99 mM/L), assim como os terpenóides timol, linalol e limoneno em altas doses. Conclui-se que a melhor fermentação ruminal in vitro com mitigação de metano foi observada com óleo de alecrim e para os terpenóides os compostos foram timol, linalol e limoneno na alta dose.
