O conteúdo de proteínas e fibras nas forragens tropicais não afecta a preferência por coelhos de engorda

Resumo

O objectivo desta investigação era avaliar a preferência das forragens comummente utilizadas na alimentação animal nas zonas tropicais do México. Guasimo (Guazuma ulmifolia), cocohite (Gliricidia sepium), erva redemoinho o grama batatais (Paspalum notatum), erva do Egipto (Brachiaria mutica) e erva humidicola (Brachiaria humidicola) foram oferecidos simultaneamente a 24 coelhos New Zealand durante 14 dias. Nesta investigação, foi demonstrada a preferência pela Gliricidia sepium e Brachiaria mutica em relação à Guazuma ulmifolia, Paspalum notatum e Brachiaria humidicola (P<0,05). A ingestão de proteína bruta, fibra detergente ácida e fibra detergente neutra foi mais elevada com Gliricidia sepium e Brachiaria mutica (P<0,05). Em conclusão, a Gliricidia sepium foi preferida pelos coelhos de engorda. O conteúdo em nutrientes não estava relacionado com a preferência de ingestão. O estudo da preferência forrageira e a sua relação com o teor de nutrientes é necessário para a inclusão dos recursos tropicais nas dietas dos coelhos.
