Imunoterapia e manejo cirúrgico do Pythium insidiosum num eqüino: um relato de caso

A pitiose cutânea equina é causada pelo oomycete Pythium insidiosum, que geralmente produz lesões ulcerosas granulomatosas rapidamente progressivas nas partes distais dos membros e do abdômen. É uma doença distribuída globalmente com maior prevalência em regiões tropicais e subtropicais. O objetivo deste relatório de caso era descrever lesões granulomatosas com tecido necrótico e exsudato fibrino-sangrento na região palpebral do olho esquerdo causado por Pythium insidiosum num quarto de égua de cavalo no estado de Veracruz, México. O diagnóstico foi baseado nas características clínicas da lesão e na histopatologia. Devido à extensão das lesões, foi realizada a ressecção cirúrgica em combinação com imunoterapia. O tratamento com imunoterapia provou ser uma alternativa eficaz para alcançar a resolução completa das lesões cutâneas.
