Estresse por calor: influência na fisiologia e no comportamento produtivo e reprodutivo de suínos

Resumo

O estresse por calor (EC) compromete os parâmetros reprodutivos e de crescimento. Os suínos submetidos ao estresse por calor reduzem a ingestão voluntária e modificam seu metabolismo energético, causando uma redução no ganho de peso diário e um aumento no acúmulo de gordura subcutânea, o que afeta negativamente a qualidade da carcaça dos suínos de engorda. Na porca, ela causa um balanço energético negativo que afeta o desempenho reprodutivo, aumentando o intervalo de estro pós-desmame, diminuindo a taxa de gestação, a taxa de parto e o tamanho e peso da ninhada ao nascimento e ao desmame. Muitas das consequências negativas do EC parecem ser mediadas pela hiperpermeabilidade da barreira intestinal, causando alterações fisiológicas, como a partição de nutrientes para um sistema imunológico ativado e efeitos adversos nos ovários por meio da sinalização elevada de endotoxina e insulina, resultando em falha da função reprodutiva da porca.
