TESTICLE TUMORS IN THE DOG TUMORES TESTICULARES EN EL PERRO

Resumen

The purpose of this paper is to make a literature review of the main testicular tumors in dogs: Sertoli cells tumor, interstitial cells tumor, and Seminoma. Describing the etiology, predisposing factors, physiopathogeny, clinical presentation, diagnostic, differential diagnostic, treatment, and prognostic for the development of these pathologies. It is concluded that there are breeds with increased susceptibility on developing testicular tumors like Boxer, Chihuahua, Miniature Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer, Cairn Terrier, and Shetland Sheepdog, and even that this pathologies have a favorable prognosis after treatment, it is important to consider the possibility of functional metastases, as well as the mielotoxicosis with risks of life for the patient.

El objetivo del trabajo es realizar una revisión de literatura de los principales tumores testiculares en el perro: tumor de células de Sertoli, tumor de células intersticiales y Seminoma. Se menciona su etiología, factores predisponentes para el desarrollo de estas patologías, fisiopatogenia, presentación clínica, diagnóstico, diagnóstico diferencial, tratamiento y pronóstico. Se concluye en que hay razas con mayor predisposición a desarrollar tumores testiculares, como Bóxer, Chihuahua, Poodle miniatura, Schnauzer miniatura, Cairn Terrier y Pastor de Shetland, y si bien es una enfermedad de pronóstico favorable post tratamiento, es importante tener en cuenta la posibilidad de metástasis funcionales, así como también la mielotoxicosis con riesgos de vida para el paciente.
