Abstract

The enzymes xylanase, amylase, protease, and phytase were evaluated in chicken diets for their effect on productive performance. 432 Bovans hens were used in six treatments arranged in a 2x3 factorial design, with six replicates of 12 chickens each. Factor A was diets with 17% or 15% crude protein (CP) and -150 kcal/kg of metabolizable energy (ME); the factor B was diets with and without 600 phytic units (FTU) of phytases and the addition of XAP (xylanases, amylases, and proteases). The results obtained in eight weeks of experimentation showed no difference (P>0.05) between the diets with and without phytases; the latter resulted in a reduction of 0.16% in calcium, 0.18% in phosphorus, 75 kcal/kg of ME, 0.81% in protein, and 0.037% in amino acids. Egg weight and feed conversion ratio were affected (P<0.05) in the birds that received the diets with 15% CP. The inclusion of XAP improved the percentage of egg production (P<0.05), egg weight, and feed conversion ratio (P<0.05) in the diets with less protein and ME. Shell strength increased (P<0.05) in diets with phytases. The use of XAP and phytases decreased the inclusion of soybean meal, orthophosphate, oil, and salt in the diet.
